Ciane Fernandes




Ciane Fernandes is a full professor at the Escola de Teatro da Universidade Federal da Bahia and one of the founders of the Postgraduate Program in Performing Arts at this university; MA and Ph.D. in Arts & Humanities for Performing Arts interpreters from New York University, Movement Analyst at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (New York), where she is a research associate. Author of several publications, among which the books Pina Bausch and the Wuppertal Dance-Theatre: Repetition and Transformation, The Body in Motion: The Laban/Bartenieff System in Training and Research in Performing Arts, and the most recent Crystal Dance: From the Art of Movement to a Somatic-Performative Approach. She also gives performance lectures and immersions in Brazil and abroad, including with members of the A-FETO Dance-Theatre Collective, which she founded in 1997.
